  • Installation by a licensed electrician and plumber (Including certificates of compliance and safety)

  • All subsidy paperwork (The discount is upfront)

Why it is Free?

Due to the Victorian Government’s various initiatives, like the Victorian Energy Upgrade Program (VEU) and the Small Scale Renewable Energy Scheme; all eligible Victorian residential and commercial properties can enjoy free hot water system upgrades.

Is it free for all?

Yes, if you meet the criteria below:

  • Replacing an electric storage unit

  • The current unit is outside and will be replaced in the same position; or the current unit is inside and can be moved outside, or to a warehouse within a specified distance.

  • No switchboard upgrade is required

What are the benefits of upgrading?

  1. Reduce your power bills - Commercial heat pump hot water systems are up to 70% more efficient than electric storage hot water systems and upgrading can save businesses thousands of dollars a year.

  2. They work day and night, rain, hail or shine - The systems use renewable energy to generate hot water without the need for solar panels, gas lines or inverters.

  3. Update old units and get new warranties - Many electric units are coming to the end of their shelf life and are no longer under warranty. Our heat pump hot water systems come with warranties of seven years for the tank and two years for the compressor.

  4. Better for the environment - Heat pump hot water systems not only reduce your businesses carbon emissions, but they also don’t release any harmful gases. The reduction in carbon emissions can contribute to your sustainability targets.

Energy Efficient Hot Water System

Heat pumps don’t directly heat the water in the same way as traditional water heaters. Instead, they draw electricity only to operate the compressor. The compressor, or pump, draws ambient heat from the air, using smart renewable energy to heat the water. It works in much the same way as a refrigerator or air conditioner, transferring heat rather than cold temperatures.

How do heat pumps make hot water?

1. Draws surrounding air:

A fan draws in air, containing heat energy, across the evaporator.

2. Turns air into gas:

The evaporator turns the liquid refrigerant into a gas. The compressor pressurizes the refrigerant into a hot gas.

3. Heats water with gas:

The hot gas inside the condenser coil heats the water inside the coil-wrapped tank.

4. Produces hot water:

The refrigerant reverts back to a liquid after heating the water and continues to the evaporator for the process to start again.

The process is the same as the one that powers your refrigerator, air conditioner or reverse cycle air conditioner (also known as a heat pump). When your reverse cycle air conditioner is working in winter, it is extracting the heat from the ambient air outside and pumping it into the house. That’s what a heat pump water heater does. It takes the heat from the ambient air and uses it to heat your hot water.
